For the past 15 years I’ve been working in Digital Marketing in some way or another. When I was leading an IT team, I was working on the side providing Digital Marketing Services for small businesses, and as my career shifted from IT to Marketing (a great subject for a future blog post) I’ve always worked a “side hustle” of executing Digital Strategy for businesses.
Over time I’ve realized that I’ve always worked as a Marketing Consultant. Sometimes I was referred to as a digital agency, other times as a contractor and most of the time as a consultant who was executing strategy for my clients. I have worked on everything from Social Media Management and Online Advertising or SEO (Search Engine Optimization) for businesses in many different sectors. And here are a few key things I’ve learned about running my own consultancy or even providing some basic services.
